Materials Used in Shredder Wear Parts
Westom Global’ shredder wear parts with strict attention to detail, quality, and consistency. We’ve developed and tested our proprietary heat treat cycle and metallurgy for shredder parts that run tough and wear long.
Standard Wear Parts
Standard materials make standard wear parts.
- Mn14 – Standard manganese steel. “Crafted from high-grade virgin manganese steel with the perfect hardening alloys.”
- Mn14CrMo – Modified manganese steel. Our modified manganese parts are cast from high-grade materials, incorporating additional hardening alloys and modified heat treatment, just like our standard manganese steel wear parts.
- 42CrMo – Low alloy steel. Alloy hammers offer a higher wear rate and are well-suited for operations that do not consistently process automobiles and heavier scrap.
- DHT – DHT steel. Quality metallurgy, strict attention to quality control, including ultrasonic testing, and a specialized heat treatment produce a high-performance hammer or wear part for many applications.

Redefining Wear Parts- DHT Hammers
Our DHT alloy steel hammer is specially heat-treated to obtain high hardness at the wear section and lower hardness plus high strength at the bore area.
